Wings & Peach Recap

You may remember  few posts back where I was complaining that I didn't know how to do a wing with my eyeliner, well, I have been practising... I am not the best but ah well, lol. I just thought I would share with you some more pictures that inspired me and also a picture with me and the eyeliner. 

In that same post, I also mentioned that I was looking for a particular lipstick, well I purchased Vegas Volt by MAC as recommend to me and I still think it is a bit too bright. I have always had Velvet Teddy and I just reached for it this week and realised that THIS is the lip colour I have been looking for lol!

(I am NOT naked by the way, lol, it is just a boob tube I wear when I am indoors)

Products Worth The Hype

Hey guys! Believe me or not, the week or so I've spent away from the blogsphere hasn't been fun, I have missed you guys!!! I havent had the greatest week, but I just thank God through all things, I spent last week in hospital as I had surgery, there were a few complications with the surgery so I had to spend two nights in on a ward....(boring lol), now I am semi well and recovering but I cannot wait to go back to work!! (never thought I'd say that lol), with that I also missed Fashion Week :( I apologise to the PR companies that took the time to send me the lovely invites and I look forward to catching you guys in September. 

Since I did a post on products that were poor value for money, I thought I'd tell you about some products that are definitely worth the hype!

1. Ben Nye Banana Powder - I love this powder ever so much and I still wonder how I lived without it before, it is actually amazing!

2. MUA Eyeshadows - these bad boys are so cheap and cheerful, I love them. I would say they are good value for money but they are beyond that, these two little pots were £1 each from Superdrug and they are so pigmented.

3. MAC's Paint Pot - I love this product by MAC, I am not entirely sure what it's actually supposed to be but I use it in different ways, I usually use it as a base for my eye shadows as it helps the colour to stick and appear more pigmented and most importantly LAST, it also acts as a colour on its own too.

4. Viktor and Rolf Flowerbomb - my favourite fragrance after Chanel

5. MAC Lipsticks - Yummmmm, you can come to me and slate MAC about anything, but if you slate their lipsticks it's WAR. They may have some colours I hate (like Morange which I highlighted in an earlier post) but they have such a massive range with a variety of finishes that there is guaranteed to be something for you.

6. Smashbox Primer - I just love the velvet feel, the texture, the longevity... I'm sold.

7. Clinique's Dramatically Different Gel - I use this before my make up and I love how matte it turns, especially because I have oily skin.

8. L'Oreal Superliner - I got sold into this nearly four years ago after hearing the hype and buzz about this eyeliner online, there probably are better eye liners out there but this is just all I know, lol #Loyal

10. Clinique's High Impact Mascara - I did do a comparison post, this mascara was on of my favourites, I love the fact that it works with me, I get both volume and length, Its fantastic.

Brush Up! (Review and New Buys)

So I finally gave into the hype! Well, I actually purchased the Real Techniques brushes a few weeks ago but I wanted to leave some time in between so I could give you guys a decent review. The brushes by YouTube make-up guru Samantha Chapman from the channel PixiWoo retail at £20.99 and you can find them in Boots or online from Amazon, you know me, I like to purchase things as quick as a click so I purchased them from behind my PC. I didn't mind either because they are elegible for Super Saver (free) delivery from Amazon! 

I decided to purchase the Core Collection which I have heard is the best set to start with, in the set contains the Buffing Brush, Detailer brush, Pointed foundation brush and a Contour brush. First of all let me say, this set is very good value for money, I mostly have MAC brushes and for what these do and for what my MAC brushes do, it definitely gives MAC a run for its money.

The buffing brush is amazing and I would pay £25 for it alone for what it does. The first time I used the buffing brush i was left amazed, my make up was completely airbrushed. I use it in a similar way to how I use my MAC 187, to literally just blend my make up in. The 187 really does annoy me because it gets dirty really quickly and once its dirty you get lots of streaks in your make up. I also love love love the contour brush!

The negatives about this set however is that the 'pointed foundation brush' is technically a concealer brush, lol, it's extremely tiny! You would spend hours doing just your foundation if that was really a foundation brush. The detailer brush, I still haven't got round to using yet, I don't really know what to do with it yet lol.

Overall this set gets an 8/10.

Next I have the 'Big, Fat, Firm, Foundation Brush' which I purchased online from Coco Beau I really like this brush, even though I haven't used it yet (haven't wore any make up yet this week) I can tell me and the brush are really going to get along well! It's big for a foundation brush, which I love, I was on a hunt for one similar for a longtime and Henrietta from henessy85.blogspot.co.uk actually recommended it to me. I then checked online for reviews from my trusted source Make Up Alley (I always get reviews from here) and also saw that vloggers Essie Button and Pixiwoo (Can't find the video anymore, sorry) got along really well with the brush. 

I love the thickness of the brush, honestly, I'm in love and I can not wait to use her! lol

The brush retails at £29.75 which yes, is a tad pricey, but you do get what you pay for, whilst I was trailing online looking for reviews I stumbled across a similar brush from Royal and Langnickel, people were saying that apparently they were made by the same manufacturer so I did get tempted to buy this one as it retails at £20.41 but do not be fooled guys, as I continued my research, the reviews were so so so bad, people were seriously complaining about it's quality, so if you want longevity, invest in this one!

Just so you can see how thick the brush actually is, I have compared it to MAC's 190 which retails at £26.

Poor Value For Money!

I'm sitting cosy in my bed doing some research and watching Criminal Minds (Multi tasking queen) with a day off from work, so blog time! It's just a quick post about a few products which I think are poor value for money, not necessarily that they are all bad, it's just that I don't see the use of them that much and I haven't got my moneys worth out of them.

1. Urban Decay Naked Palette - There is actually nothing wrong with the palette but the colours are not to my taste, they are all sheer/shimmery. If you have been reading my blog you will see that I actually wanted the Naked 2 palette as it contains more matte colours, but on the day I purchased this I got a huge discount and I think I was under pressure so I chose the wrong one lol :( If anyone can give me any tips on better ways to use this, I would appreciate it.

2. Mac Translucent Powder - I really liked this powder when I first purchased it, it was white when I first used it but when I sprayed the Fix+ on top of it, it all blended in, the only reason why this is now poor value for money is because I fell in love with Ben Nye's Banana Powder and it's yellow undertone  matte finish. I simply just don't use this powder anymore and it's close to new.

3. Mac Prep and Prime for Lips - I initially requested this because one of my girls said it keeps her lipstick on all day, even though I didn't pay for this, I still think it's poor value for money. It doesn't do anything for my lips at all, lol.

4. Clinique's Chubby Stick - While I love their Chubby Stick Intense which has more colour and pigment to it, the initial Chubby Stick is sheer and doesn't give good coverage to my lips, especially because of my skin tone. It's almost transparent.   

5. Clinique's Plum Seduction Colour Surge Eye Shadow Quad - I just don't really like Clinique's eye shadows if I am honest, I don't think they suit my skin tone and I am not a fan of the pigment, however I do have the Like Mink Duo and the Choco-Latte quad and the brown shades in both palettes look nice when I'm going for a very natural look.

6. Mac Morange Lipstick - I'm actually not sure why I ever purchased this lipstick, lol, every time I do a look and prepare to go out, I rub it off, It's so bright and I look like a clown when I wear it. I have tried it on once with the Brick lipstick from MAC and it looked better, but again I rubbed it off before I left my house.

7. Kylie Minogue Darling EDT Perfume Spray - I don't usually go for EDT fragrances, always EDP and now I know why, this fragrance was so overrated, it's smells okay, all for five minutes but then the smell just disappears, lol. I think Kylie should stick to her day job.

8. Bobbi Brown Pink Sorbet Gloss - I wanted this gloss for a while after seeing it on someone else, I purchased it and not only does it look strange, but It burns my lips, lol. I have this minty burning sensation every time I wear it. *thumbs down Bobbi Brown*

I was also going to add Ysl's Rouge Volupte in shade 29 to this list (I'm wearing above) it was another pressure product, I purchased it from John Lewis and the beauty consultant made me feel so under pressure so I purchased it, when I got home I was so annoyed, this lipstick is so bright, it almost look luminous. Luckily, I teamed it with Cliniques 'plum' lip pencil and I actually like it now.
